What licences may apply to my business?

Licensing Act 2003

This covers what used to be known as liquor, public entertainment, theatre, cinema and late night refreshment licences.

Premises licences and a personal licences are now issued by local councils who are the Licensing Authorities. Please contact the Licensing Team for more details

Registration

Some business activities, such as acupuncture, electrolysis, ear piercing and tattoing, may not need a licence but must register with the council and comply with local byelaws to control the risk of infection.

In addition nearly all businesses that sell, handle or prepare food will need to register as a food business (65kb)
